The National Waste Strategy will help the UK move towards more sustainable waste management practices. The strategy outlines how the UK can set about decreasing the amount of waste being Land filled and increase the amount being reused and recycled.
The EU Landfill Directive has introduced a requirement for the UK to concentrate at significantly reducing the amount of biodegradable waste that is Land filled over the next 20 years. Biodegradable waste includes items like paper, cardboard, garden waste and food waste.
This section provides information about how you can assist by reducing, reusing, and recycling your waste.
Our free
discussion forum is now online. Here
you can discuss a wide range of issues and ideas
regarding the environment, including waste minimisation
and recycling within UK Local Authorities and the
private sector. If we are to meet the targets set within
the Landfill Directive, Area Waste Plans, WEEE
Directive, ELV Directive and the numerous pending
environmental challenges we need to do it together by
exchange ideas and sharing best practice. We hope this
site contributes in some way to meeting the challenges
ahead.
